The Story Behind the Stories

M.W. Theodore (he/they) is a trans, AuDHD, and disabled author who has been telling stories for as long as they can remember. Born with a restless imagination and an insatiable curiosity, they have spent their life creating worlds, developing complex characters, and exploring the many ways love, survival, and identity intersect.

Writing has always been their anchor—a space where they could craft narratives that felt true, even when set in impossible places. What started as a safe space to escape reality became a home and protest against everything that made them feel wrong or alone.

By profession, M.W. has worked in healthcare for eighteen years, a career that has shaped their understanding of people, resilience, and the quiet complexities of human connection. Balancing the demands of a healthcare career with their writing life has taught them persistence, discipline, and the value of stories that resonate on a deeply human level.

They are also a parent of five neurodivergent "spawnlings", raising their children alongside a pack of fur babies in the Georgia. Their home is one of joyful chaos, loud love, and the endless negotiation of time between parenting, working, and writing. Through it all, storytelling remains their constant.

M.W. writes high fantasy, paranormal, and sci-fi romance, but more than that, they write stories about finding belonging in the places you least expect it. Their work is not only shaped by their identity as a queer, trans, neurodivergent, and disabled person—it is enriched by it.

They believe that love stories belong to everyone and that fiction should be a space where all readers can see themselves reflected with nuance, care, and authenticity.

They invite readers into narratives that are expansive, inclusive, and driven by connection—stories that ask what it means to love, to survive, and to choose your own path.

Writing Across Worlds

M.W. Theodore’s stories span magical kingdoms, shadowy paranormal realms, and distant sci-fi futures. While each world is unique, their work always centers the depth of human connection, complex relationships, and characters navigating what it means to love, to fight, and to choose their own path.

In their high fantasy romances, you’ll find sweeping landscapes, ancient magic, and the weight of duty and desire. Their paranormal romances slip into the hidden spaces of dystopian societies, where vampires, humans, and shapeshifters fight for love and survival. Their sci-fi romances explore the edges of technology and time, where love must cross galaxies or outlast extinction.

A Little More about M.W.

They swear by the 'Save the Cat' method for plotting.
Every story, character, and series has special playlists (one with vocals and one without, because sometimes you can't make words when you hear words).
They are a Druid main in D&D.
Their favorite comfort activities are: playing Dead by Daylight, Phasmophobia, and Stardew Valley - watching KDramas with friends, and crocheting.
They watch The Lord of the Rings trilogy (extended edition) and 2005 Pride & Prejudice at least five times a month.
They started making stories and writing when their mother said they weren't smart enough to write a book.
They almost stopped writing after their chronic health/pain made it too painful to type.

Monster is a daily survival tool, and chamomile tea at night makes the late-night editing sessions easier.
They are a lifelong gamer and often find story inspiration in video games and TTRPGs.
They’ve been creating since childhood. Their original inspiration came from Greek, Norse, and Egyptian mythology.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, they cosplayed some of their book characters on TikTok.
Their home is filled with books, children’s laughter, and a small army of fur babies who fully believe they are the center of the universe.
They stream on twitch and are working on (too) many side projects with other authors and content creators.
